The distance between Edinburgh and Bergen is about 437 miles by plane. To get to Bergen, I took a one-and-a-half-hour flight to Oslo, the capital of Norway, and then I took a connecting flight from Oslo to Bergen that was less than one hour. In total, I traveled 874 miles from Edinburgh to Bergen and back, and then I traveled an extra 226 miles travelling around Bergen and the surrounding areas. That makes for 1,100 miles just this weekend!
In total, I have traveled more than 5,450 miles! The flight from Chicago to Edinburgh was about 3,706 miles, and over the past few weekends, I traveled all over Scotland to see the Highlands, the Isle of Skye and St. Andrews. I also traveled to Bergen this past weekend. I hope to travel to more places outside of Scotland over the next few weekends!
I used many different modes of transportation this week. After taking the bus from my flat to the airport, I took two planes and then another bus to get to my hotel. Next, Anisha and I took a train, a bus, a boat and two more trains during our tour of Bergen and the fjords. The next day, we took the funicular up the mountain, and of course, we did plenty of walking.
