Hello, my name is Maria.
I am 23 years old and currently live in Houston, Texas. I have a dad, a mom, a brother, who is younger than me, and a sister, who is older than me. I am the middle child of the family. My family is from Mexico, so I travel to that country three to four times a year. I spend Christmas and New Year's Eve visiting family and friends who live there. I have been to seven states in Mexico.
Since my parents are Mexican, Spanish was the first language that my siblings and I spoke as children. In order to practice my Spanish skills and learn new words, I chose to travel to South America. I also decided to study abroad in Peru because I am interested in the history and culture of ancient civilizations. Peru was the home of the Inca, one of the oldest and most powerful indigenous empires in the the history of the world. I am looking forward to learning more about the Inca people and their history and traditions. I am currently visiting Lima, the capital of Peru. The people of Lima also have a rich history for me to learn more about.
