A Little Bit About Me!

For fun I enjoy traveling, exploring nature, listening to music and hanging out with friends.

Since entering college, studying abroad has always been in the back of my mind. After I had heard peoples experiences and discussed with many staff members the idea, Costa Rica became my top choice and a no brainer for my college experience. As I researched the way Costa Ricans live, their healthcare system, and the bioregion I knew I had to go to experience life for myself.

This semester I am attending the Institute for Central American Development Studies (ICADS) in Costa Rica. I am participating in the Social Justice & Development Internship track which consists of two blocks; one for classes and the other for an internship. During my stay I live with a host family right in the middle of the capital San Jose. My 10 minute walk to school has a lovely view of both the mountains and the city buildings. I just completed Block 1 that consisted of a Spanish Intensive and “Latin American Perspectives on Justice and Sustainable Development” that included so many field trips to different areas of Costa Rica. Now, I am spending Block 2 in an internship placement relating to the universal healthcare system in connection with my public health major. I am shadowing community health workers, seeing, and experiencing firsthand how the healthcare system works. I’ll do a whole journal fully dedicated to my internship very soon!

My goal for this journal is to savor every moment of this once in a lifetime experience and motivate others to pursue travel. I cant wait to share more! Pura Vida!
