¡Bienvenidos (Hello) everyone! My name is Raina Evans. Right now I am currently studying abroad in beautiful Costa Rica thanks to the Benjamin J. Gilman International Scholarship. During my journey I am so excited to share the wonders of this country to hopefully encourage more people to pursue study abroad or travel.
Here's a little bit about me! I was born in Manhattan, New York, but I was raised in Rochester, New York, which is about an hour and a half away from Niagara Falls. The school that I had attended growing up was in the cornfields, very isolated to different cultures and people. Luckily my family kept me exposed to their culture as my mother was born in Puerto Rico, but unfortunately I'd only see relatives once or twice a year due to distance. Still in Rochester, I currently attend Nazareth University double majoring in public health and occupational therapy with minors in Spanish and Interfaith Studies. When I decided to go to university I had made it a priority to try and connect with my culture and especially the Spanish language as it was difficult for me to do so growing up. Now, I am a part of various cultural clubs at home as well as two work study jobs encouraging community and belonging.
