After we finished paddling the first day, we camped along the river again. No electricity, no cell service, just you and the Amazon Jungle. On day two, we had to paddle for 12 hours. I had blisters on my hands and thought about giving up so many times, but I couldn’t let my team down. There was no turning back. We had to finish! The sun was hot, there were bugs, I was hungry and tired. But my team and I played some music and told each other fun stories to help pass the time.
On the third and final day, we had to paddle through a big thunderstorm storm and fight strong currents on the river. After almost 10 grueling hours, we made it back to town and people were waiting cheering us on. This race was a true test. It showed me that sometimes we have to push through hard times in life, but we have friends who are there to help us. We shouldn’t give up when it is hard! What is something you have done that was very difficult but proud of? How do your friends and family help support you?
