Our News

What music did I listen to this week?:

This week, I loved listening to the birds singing in the morning, the cows mooing as they were milked and the crashing waves on the coastline. After living in the city, I was surprised by how quiet the nights were in the Azores. The only thing that I could hear was the wind rustling through the trees!

What activity was the most fun this week?:

On our last day, we decided to go on a walk to see the end of the trail of Green Lake. We packed a picnic and ate our lunch at the tables by the water. Then, we decided to see where the rest of the trail went. It turned out that it went all around the lake, and we had a lot of fun hiking to the other side!

What did I read this week?:

In Sete Cidades (Seven Cities), there are two lakes, Blue Lake and Green Lake. According to a local legend, there was a princess and a peasant who were in love, but they could never be together. When they cried, their tears filled up each of the lakes. Her eyes were green, so her tears created Green Lake, and his eyes were blue which created Blue Lake.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

Since we were staying right by a lake, we decided to see the coast from the other side by going kayaking! From the water, we could see the entire town and also the house where we were staying. We also could see the boathouse that used to belong to the nobles' family but is now rented as a vacation home.

Other news from this week:

Have you ever seen a cow being milked? When we went for a walk the other evening, we saw the cows in the pasture that were hooked up to a funny machine.
