An Interview with Hugo: Life in Spain

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

My mom ususally walks me to school in the mornings, but sometimes my dad walks me. I am not allowed to walk home by myself. However, sometimes my parents let me walk halfway home, but only if I walk together with my friend, Kiko. Since he lives on my street, we are allowed to walk together.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

For lunch, I love to eat croquetas de jamon (ham croquettes) and a Nutella sandwich with white bread. For the bread, I like the crust to be cut off because I think it tastes better.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak Spanish, and I'm learning English at school. ¡Hola, me llamo Hugo! This means "Hello, my name is Hugo!"

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

My best friend is Kiko. I also go to school with Alejandro, Lucas, Daniel, Oskar, Olivier, Felix, Sami, and Jaime.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

I study Spanish language arts, math, enviornmental science, physical education, arts and crafts, and English. I enjoy all my classes.

What is your homework like?:

I have a lot of homework throughout the week! Usually, I get paper packets to complete at home, which correlate with what we are learning in class. There are also some weekly online assignments that I have to do, too!

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

I love basketball!
