An Interview with a 10th & 11th Grader

Introduction:

Two of my students offered to sit down and answer a few questions with me to give you insight into Mongolian teenagers.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

10 E: I usually eat whatever my mom cooks for me, things like noodle soup and noodle stirfry. They are both Mongolian, lavshaa and tsuivan.

11E: I eat scrambled eggs, sausage and toast for breakfast. My family usually does traditional Mongolian dishes for lunch and dinner, like lavshaa and tsuivan.

What is your house like?:

10 E: I live in a 6-story apartment building with my immediate family: parents and younger siblings.

11E: I live in a 5-story apartment building with my Mom and sister.

What chores do you have at home?:

10E: The most common chores I have are cleaning the dishes and mopping the floor.

11E: I vacuum the house and wash the dishes. I guess I also set the table for lunch and dinner.

What jobs do your parents have?:

10E: My mom is a stay-at-home mom, and my dad is a graphic designer

11E: My sister works in IT at Univision, and my mom works as a district manager.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

10E: I get to school at 8:00, and it finishes at 1:20.
