An Interview with a 10th & 11th Grader

11E: The same for me.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

10E: Yes, we can go to school by ourselves. I use public transport: normally the buses, but if it is warm, I will walk or skateboard.

11E: I always walk to school, even when it is cold. It helps wake you up.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

10E: I don’t usually eat lunch until I get home at about 2:30. I would say my favorite food varies; sometimes it is traditional food, sometimes it’s pizza.

11E: I also eat lunch at my home. My favorite food is actually cake.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

10E: I speak Mongolian at school. Hello is 'sain uu'.

11E: I also speak Mongolian at school, but with my friend, we try to speak English as much as possible.

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

10E: Misheel.

11E: Anudari. A lot of Mongolian names are two parts, so there are a lot of Bat-something.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

10E: There are so many subjects, like 18, I can’t name them all. My favorite is design and technology.

11E: I have sixteen, I think. My favorites are IT and PE.

What is your homework like?:

10E: It varies from teacher to teacher; sometimes teachers give homework, and others don’t.

11E: Sometimes we have to copy pages down from our book. I absolutely have a lot of homework.
