Taking a salsa dancing class with my boyfriend at Brisa Latina (Latin Breeze)! Once we get better at salsa, we are thinking of joining the bachata class, too.
This week, I read an article titled, The Republican Mother: Woman and the Enlightenment - An American Perspective. In this article, Linda Kerber explains that before women were given the right to vote, no one was sure what their relationship to politics should be. After the Civil War (1861-1865) in the U.S., it was decided that women should politically influence their husbands and sons. This was not direct representation yet, but it was a step in the right direction!
This week, like all the ones before it, I went to Jiu Jitsu class for four days. It is really tough to learn all the moves and to communicate in Spanish while fighting! I was so used to getting all my directions in English before I moved to Mexico.
For anyone interested in Spanish books, I read Criatura (Creature) by Mariana Ayala, and it was GOOD. It is a spooky short story that has a lot of important messaging. It is considered children and teen fiction, and I would highly recommend it.
