Transportation

Introduction:

The transportation system in Seoul is a culture shock for an American. Back home in America, I have my own car, so I'm used to driving to get around; however, in Seoul, I would not recommend having a car. Everyone is in a rush to get from one place to the next. People drive very fast here and pay no mind to traffic speed. So, I usually have a nervous stomach after getting off a bus or a taxi.

How do people get around?:

South Korea has a great transportation system. The people of South Korea have many ways of moving about: buses, trains, subways, taxis, ferries, cars and motorscycles.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I have not used public transportation back home in the last seven years because I drive. Taxis are my favorite mode to get around Seoul because there is an app. which allows me to locate a ride. I still struggle with the buses, subways, and trains; this is mostly because the directions are written in Korean, and I'm afraid of getting lost!

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

I believe this way of getting around does have to do with the culture and environment. When considering the link between transportation and Korean culture and environment, you need to remember that South Korea is not a big country, and Seoul is a densely poulated city.
