Happy (late) Halloween!
During the last weekend of October, I was fortunate enough to be able to spend some time in Amsterdam and Zaans Schans. Though I was not there long, I had the opportunity to experience the city in the midst of celebrating Halloween. My friends and I visited a couple restaurants and other spots, and we also enjoyed a night out in town. We also visited the famous Zaans Schans windmills before our train back to London. Overall, the city reminded me of Venice, with its countless canals, bridges and unique architecture.
The tradition I learned about was, of course, Halloween!
Based on my observations walking through the streets, I would say that while Amsterdam is not a spot known for its Halloween celebrations, there is certainly much to see if travelers happen to be in the city during October. From various social events to live music performances and ghost tours, there is something for everyone. I had a lot of fun seeing people's costumes and dining at restaurants completely decked out for the holiday.
