I travelled across the width of the country this week - from Dublin to Galway. That is roughly 129 miles. It is crazy to think you can cross the country in two and a half hours on the train. Roughly estimating, it seems it would take 6 hours to drive diagonally from end to end across the Republic of Ireland.
I have traveled a fair amount (for remaining on an island!). I have been to Galway twice, Cork and the surrounding towns three times, and the Dingle/Kerry area once. I still have a long list of places I'd like to visit. Especially as the weather improves, I hope to see more of Ireland's beatiful nature and landscapes.
Walking is my main mode of transport. However, this week I used the bus a fair bit and took the train out to Galway. I flew to Kerry last weekend, which was perhaps the shortest flight I've ever been on - I spent only 20 minutes in the air!
I visited the city of Galway. I strolled around the city center, the seaside promenade, and to the cliffs outside of the city. Galway is significantly smaller than Dublin. It is very aesthically different as well. It is directly on the sea and is made up of cobblestone streets and relatively short buildings.
