Our News

Some of my favorites include CMAT, Fontaines D.C., and Florence Road. I went to a concert headlined by Florence Road a couple of weeks ago. It had three other smaller Irish indie-rock artists as well. It was very cool!

What activity was the most fun this week?:

The hike was incredible. We took a bus from the city of Galway to the town of Doolin. From Doolin, we hiked two hours along a coastal trail to the Cliffs of Moher vistor centre. The cliffs are a very popular spot for tourists in Ireland. It is very evident why - they are stunning. It was so nice to get out of the city and take in the coastal landscape. We were lucky to have perfect sunny weather as well.

What did I read this week?:

I finished reading the book Reading in the Dark, by Seamus Deane. It is set in Northern Ireland in the 1950s and beautifully written. It is a series of connected vignettes and is set up somewhat like a memoir. Ireland has a n excellent literary culture. I have a long list of Irish literature I am hoping to read.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I did not play any sports this week but I watched the Ireland vs. Wales rugby game on the TV. I am still quite lost on the rules of the game. It is very entertaining to watch though. Rugby, soccer (or football as it is called here), Gaelic football, and hurling are all quite popular here.

Other news from this week:

I attended lecture in Trinity college this week. It is a historic college with significance in the culture of Dublin.
