Hey, guys!

It has been a long 10 weeks together, hasn't it? We traveled all the way from Geosan to Seogwipo together and saw a lot of cool things on the way. But, I'm sure you can imagine, ten pictures a week does not even begin to describe life in South Korea. My camera roll is full of pictures that I would love to show you, but there are some things that you can't experience through pictures. I have been studying the Korean language, history and culture, and consuming Korean media for seven years. I can confidently tell you that social media does not do justice to South Korea. I doubt it does justice to any country. While it might seem that you can experience anything and everything on your phone, you really do need to see the sights, hear the sounds, taste the food and smell the smells yourself to begin to understand South Korea. So, today, I want to show you a glimpse of what I experienced on my first trip with my friends to Aewol, Jeju Island.

Two of my friends from graduate school and I did a weekend trip to Aewol for one of their birthdays. On the first day, we took a ferry to a small island off Jeju called Biyangdo. Not many people live on this island, but it is an important historical location and provides some of South Korea's seafood.
