Before diving into Smart Water Connect, let me first tell you a little about the organization I work for. The Water Conservancy (TWC) is a non-profit organization in Australia that works to help people save water and use it wisely. It works with businesses, communities and the government to teach people about saving water and finding ways to protect this important resource.

As part of my internship, I helped at Smart Water Connect, a national event organized by TWC. The event brings together people from different organizations, businesses and research groups to share ideas about saving water and finding better ways to use it across Australia.

During the event, TWC shared its new research report, Weathering the Dry: Australian Water Research 2026. The report looks at how Australians use water, what they know about saving it, and how prepared they are for times when there is less water available. The research was based on a survey of 1,012 Australians. It found that what people think they do to save water does not always match their actual habits. These findings are important because they help us understand what people already know about saving water and where they may need more guidance.
