dollars) and you can even bargain for a cheaper price. I also love how night markets may have more unique items like cute phone cases or accessories that may be harder to find in other more traditional stores.
Which one is my favorite?
Ningxia: One of my favorite night markets is Ningxia Night Market which is located on the northwest side of the city. Ningxia holds a special place in my heart because it was the first night market I visited in Taiwan. It is also very famous for the delicious food stalls it has. If you ever came here, I would highly recommend you find the vendor who sells the strawberry mochis I showed y'all in a previous Logbook!
Raohe: Raohe is located on the northeast side of the city! It is the last stop on the green line at Songshan Station. Raohe is one of the most popular and top-recommended night markets in Taipei for tourists. I also love it because it always has so much going on. It is also located right next to a traditional temple which in itself is worth visiting. I also have brought almost every single person who has visited me to this night market, so a part of my fondness is sharing this exciting place with people I love and care about!
Most importantly, night markets are not just places to shop and eat – they are spaces that feel alive and are a reflection of the vibrancy of Taiwanese culture and community. I love how night markets share the power of collecting locals and visitors alike to try tasty treats, bargaining for the trendiest goods and wandering the streets of Taipei until the late hours.
