While studying abroad in Seoul, South Korea, I have been learning how people get around the city. One of the biggest parts of daily life here is public transportation. I use buses and the subway to get to school, explore Seoul and meet up with friends.
There are many ways to get around Seoul. People can take buses, subways, taxis or drive their own cars. Public transportation is very popular because Seoul is a big and busy city.
I use the subway a lot because it helps me get places quickly without having to worry about traffic. Buses are also very common. During busy times, called “rush hour,” the buses and subways can get very crowded because many students and workers are traveling.
I have also tried some really cool transportation while traveling around Korea! When I visited Busan, I took the Korea Train eXpress (KTX) high-speed train from Seoul. In Busan, I rode the Sky Capsule, a small colorful train that travels along the coast, and the Busan Air Cruise, a cable car that travels over the ocean. I could see the water, mountains and city from above! These were some of my favorite ways to travel because they made getting around feel like an adventure.
