Bogadi

 It symbolizes the brides value is compensation for her upbringing and a way to strengthen social and economic ties between families. It also shows that the groom is financially ready to accept a wife and possibly bring children into their lives. Often times these cattle are given back to the bride and groom so as to establish family wealth a means to make money, as there are always both male(bulls)and female(cows).  This makes sure that they will have calfs soon, increasing the size of the herd and value. 

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

Yes. Botswana second largest export after diamonds is beef.  Cows are a significant part of the culture, are adapted to the harsh weather and have ample space to graze.
