I remember the day I arrived in Israel as if it were yesterday. I got off my cab and began looking for someone to tell me where the university dorms were. I found a girl who is from New York like all of you! Her name is Adrienne, and she is also studying abroad. I felt so relieved to find someone who spoke fluent English because up to that point, I had mostly only heard Hebrew and Arabic. She guided me toward the check-in area at the dorms and then left to continue unpacking with her mom who had come to drop her off. As I was guided to my on-campus apartment, I noticed a lot of other students were also unpacking with their parents. I had arrived alone. My parents were born in México, so they can’t travel outside the United States as much as they would like to.

As I walked into my new home, I expected to see my two other housemates unpacking, but it was completely silent. One of my housemates arrived later that day, but we’re still waiting for our other housemate who is expected to arrive on October 22 because she is an M.A. (Master's level) student, and she starts school later. I get along very well with my current housemate, Lacey. She is from California, too! We both love Mexican food, sushi and spontaneous adventures.
