How was the weather this week?:

This week of March had nearly perfect weather. On Monday, we were greeted by clear, blue skies and the warmth of late spring weather. The skies grew more pale and smoggy as the week progressed, but remained warm and sunny. On Friday, there was strong wind from the northern ocean, and on Sunday, it was especially warm.

What animals did I see this week? :

As the weather becomes warmer, I've been seeing grey heron birds near pools of water and on the sides of rivers. These are large, white birds with long neck feathers and snakelike necks. They look beautiful flying over canals and standing on rocks by the oceanside.

Another animal becoming more common is bats. Bats the size of my hand can now be seen at twilight in the warming weather. They like to remain near forests, but also are found near tall buildings.

What was the coolest thing I saw in nature this week?:

On Saturday, I took the train through the country from my apartment in Kitakyushu to the station of Kawara. The train was old and a rusty red, and had only 5 cars.
