The main language spoken in Japan is Japanese. I was shocked to learn that about 99.2 percent of all people primarily speak Japanese here.
The currency used in Japan is Yen (¥) and comes in paper and coin form.
A bottle of water from a konbini (convenience store) costs around 160 yen, which is equal to 1 USD.
Recently, for my birthday, I had the opportunity to try out a beachside restaurant in Itoshima, Japan called Ocean House. There, I ordered a mango lassi drink with a baguette. Then, I got a seafood stewpot that arrived on a flaming, raised bowl filled with delicious shrimp, oysters, and vegetables in a buttery, savory sauce. With it, I also ordered a plate of freshly grilled oysters served alongside a unique-tasting spring sauce. Paired with the beautiful view, it was one of the best meals I've ever had.
This week, I didn't listen to much music to be honest. But, while taking the train or riding the monorail, I found myself listening to songs by Gorillaz, a band I hadn't listened to for a long time but have been finding comfort in during my time in Japan.
