Our News

What did I read this week?:

This week, I've been reading pages of the Quran, which is the holy book of Islam (the main religion in Morocco). Ramadan is coming up, so I've been reading the Quran to learn more about the holiday so I can celebrate with all my new friends in Morocco!

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I played Soccer with some Moroccan students. Most kids in Morocco play soccer, so they won by a lot, but we told them we need a rematch with Football!

Other news from this week:

This week, we found out what day Ramadan would begin. A lot of us thought it would start on Saturday, but it actually started on Sunday!

Ramadan is a special time for many people who follow the religion of Islam. It's a month when they fast, which means they don't eat or drink anything from sunrise to sunset. They do this to grow closer to God, to be thankful for what they have, and to learn about patience and kindness.

Ramadan doesn’t happen at the same time every year. This is because it follows a different calendar called the lunar calendar, which is based on the moon. The moon changes a little bit every night, and that's how they decide when Ramadan starts. So, Ramadan moves by about 10 days earlier each year! That means one year it might happen in the spring, and the next year, it might happen in the winter.

It's like how your birthday is on a different day of the week every year, but it always stays the same day, just based on the way the calendar works!
