Welcome to the Mekong Delta

While in Vi Thanh, I explored a beautiful community that runs along a peaceful river and had the opportunity to witness the quiet side of Vietnam. I also visited a city called Soc Trang, which is about an hour and a half from Can Tho. This city has many Buddhist pagodas, which I admired and explored.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

The farthest I have traveled in Vietnam thus far has been to a city called Da Lat, located in a region called the Central Highlands in southern Vietnam. My friends and I flew from Ho Chi Minh City (the biggest city in Vietnam) to Da Lat. Da Lat has a much cooler climate than Can Tho, given its higher elevation and hilly terrain. We rented motorbikes and visited two incredible waterfalls on our trip. I would like to continue to explore other parts of Vietnam during my adventure abroad!

How did I get around this week?:

I ride my motorbike everywhere I go in Vietnam. Motorbikes are the primary mode of transportation in Vietnam, and cars are much lesson common than in the United States. At first it was challenging to adjust to the traffic norms in Vietnam. However, I now understand the "organized chaos" of Vietnamese traffic and feel comfortable on the roads. It's actually a lot of fun to ride my motorbike around town.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

The most interesting place I visited this week was a pagoda in Soc Trang (an hour and a half from Can Tho). Soc Trang is known for having many beautiful pagodas. I visited one pagoda that I found especially intriguing, and walked around the grounds admiring the architecture and listening to the prayers coming from inside the building.
