What main languages are spoken here?:

The official language of Botswana is English, however, 98% of the population speaks Setswana. The Tswana language (Tswana: Setswana) is a Bantu language spoken in Southern Africa by about five million speakers.

What type of money is used here?:

The type of money used here is called Pula. One U.S dollar is worth 10 pula here. 

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A bottle of water cost around 5 Pula. A bottle of water converted to the price in the U.S. is $0.50 for a bottle of water!

What was the best meal this week?:

We had the honor of eating traditional meals this week! These foods are typically made for weddings and other big events. Most meals contain meat, rice and potatoes. 

What music did I listen to this week?:

In Botswana, they listen to a lot of American music! Sometimes they play African music as well but the popular culture is similar to our own. 

What activity was the most fun this week?:

Grocery shopping was the most fun this week. I had fun learning about the different spices and aisles they have in Gaborone. Their check out system is even different. Here, when you grocery shop, you have to leave all your bags at the front of the store in a cubby. Don't worry, someone is there watching it.
