We marched down Mother Theresa Boulevard to spread awareness of the issues LGBTQ+ people face in Kosovo. The Pride events I have seen in the U.S. have felt like huge, joyful celebrations. The Pride events I witnessed in Kosovo were focused heavily on educating the public about discrimination faced by LGBTQ+ people and pushing for equal rights. This was only the third Pride Parade in Prishtina's history, so I was glad to be part of the marches. They made me feel connected to the community I lived in because we were all fighting for things that we believe in.
