Luckily, she invited me to her Aunt's house for New Year's Eve, and we got to celebrate. I had not seen my friend in two years, so it was very nice to catch up. We had many types of traditional Paraguyan food, such as milanesa, and lots of local beef. I was very surprised at how late they all waited to eat dinner--we actuallly did not end up eating dinner until after midnight (once it was officially the New Year!)

What did I read this week?:

This week, I just finished reading a book called Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance. I had mentioned to a friend that I wanted to read books in Spanish to practice my language skills. He kindly brought this book to my office, so that I could read it! I really enjoyed this book. It gave me a really good opportunity to learn more Spanish words and expressions. I have started a list on my phone of all the new Spanish words that I come across, so that I can look back at them and study them! This is the fun part about different languages--you are constantly learning something new.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

At the Paraguayan Central Bank, there is an Olympic-sized pool! It is the only Olympic-sized pool in the country, and luckily it is not that far from me. The pool is about a 10 minute car drive or about a 30 minute walk from my house. I love swimming, so it has been great to go to the pool in the afternoons after work. This is where the two Paraguayan Olympic swimmers train as well! I have not seen these athletes in person, but there are many photos in the facility to show that these athletes train there. They must be doing a lot of training this time of the year since there are the Tokyo Olympic Games happening this summer!
