Hello! I am excited to spend the next few months with you and tell you all about my life in Bahrain. This week, I will give you an overview of what it is like to live in Bahrain.

Activities:

Bahrain is a very hot country, so there are many indoor activities. Malls are one of the most common activities—there’s even a joke that there are more malls than people in Bahrain. Cafes are also very popular. The menus are very similar to the ones in the U.S., but there are a few differences. They might have karak, a type of tea with sugar, milk and spices, or Arabic coffee, which is rich in spices and served in a tiny cup. Cafes are also open much later here—sometimes even past midnight. The weather is much nicer now (about 65 degrees on average), so there have been many outdoor festivals and events. At the festivals, there is a lot of food, music and dancing, and sometimes art exhibits or games.

Things you will see in Bahrain:

Delivery bikes

There are several delivery apps here (similar to GrubHub or Uber Eats) that people use for everything—groceries, coffee and even things like electronics. The delivery drivers ride motorcycles, and you see them everywhere.
