Interview with Changwe

Introduction:

Changwe met with Genevieve over video call, his mom attending as well. We discussed various aspects of his life in Lusaka, Zambia. 

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

Sometimes for breakfast, Changwe will have bread or rice with milk. For lunch, he will have nshima and spaghetti. On the weekends, he goes out to dinner at local restaurants. If he is eating at home, he will have nshima with vegetables, (called chiwah), pumpkin leaves, and beef, lamb or pork as the meat.

 

What is your house like?:

Changwe says he lives in a medium-sized home and he has his own room.

What chores do you have at home?:

Changwe is responsible for cleaning the bathroom and making his bed. 

What jobs do your parents have?:

Changwe's father works in construction and his mother has her own business. 

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

Changwe leaves for school at 6:00 in the morning. He returns just before 1PM if there are no after school activities. When there are activities, he gets home at 3PM. 

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

His parents drive him to school.
