Farewell to Ms. Johnson’s Class

Journal Entry:

Currently, I have been in Lusaka, Zambia for three months. It has been an incredible experience thus far. Working with you all in Ms. Johnson’s class has made the experience 10x better! You all asked thoughtful questions and I am going to miss sharing my experience with you.

Luckily for me, I do still have some time here in Zambia. Because of sharing my experience with you all, I have so much more on my list to explore. I will definitely make plans to see more of Zambia and to see more animals like when I shared my visit to Lusaka National Park and seeing the two white rhinos there! I am also interested in exploring more of the countries that border Zambia like Malawi, Namibia, and Tanzania, like when I visited Zimbabwe to see Mosi-Oa-Tanya (Victoria Falls).

So far, while living in Zambia I have learned about the different languages people speak. Here in Lusaka, you can hear Bemba, Tonga, Nyanja, and Lozi. There are over 70 languages spoken in this country, even though English is the official language. I hope to soon take lessons to learn some Bemba.

This experience has been incredible and I encourage you all to explore options to be world travelers. There are programs like study abroad when you are enrolled in a university which allows you to spend time studying in another country while completing your degree.
