I Have a Crush

I would then continue to write through university, becoming vice president of the university orchestra and writing a romantic composition for one of the university's concerts. I became invested in film music after my conductor introduced the idea to me, who is an avid nerd when it comes to all things film music.

Now in Vienna, I always have a big grin on my face no matter how much work I put on my plate. For the sake of transparency, I have over 10 compositions that are actively being written/planned (including my first ballet, my first full symphony, and my first string quartet), I'm taking classes here in Vienna, and I'm doing 2 internships.

Even with that, I still don't feel like I expressed my love for classical music in the way I want to. I did a lot of practical things like composing, but I recently realised that I wasn't doing enough understanding, like understanding the lives and styles of the great composers who've influenced history so greatly. So I've gone to museums, purchased books made by scholars who have studied one composer for several decades, and frequently overloaded my professors with a plethora of questions. Coming to Vienna was a decision I made with a lot of hesitation, especially since I've never been to Europe before, but I went because I knew my love for classical music is boundless. If being the best composer I can be means leaving the United States for 3 and a half months, then so be it. This was the place my crush was born afterall.

Now that you know the history between me and my crush, what's the history between you and what you love to do? Do you also love a certain genre of music like I do? Maybe you're interested in business. Maybe the idea of aerospace engineering excites you.
