Traveler Bio

Hello everyone! My name is Henry Robertson, and I am a Peace Corps Volunteer in Uganda. I am 23 years old and recently graduated from VTSU Castleton, where I played football and majored in Psychology. Before coming to Uganda, I lived in Maine until leaving for college in Vermont.

Prior to joining the Peace Corps, I worked at the Boys and Girls Club of Rutland County. I also spent many summers and school breaks working as a carpenter in Maine. I first learned about the Peace Corps when I met a recruiter on my college campus in late 2024. Now, just one year later, I am living and working in Uganda — the “Pearl of Africa.”

Uganda truly lives up to its name. The weather stays around 80 degrees year-round and cools off with frequent, refreshing rains. The country is home to many delicious fruits, with mangoes being my favorite. Uganda is also incredibly diverse linguistically, with over 70 languages spoken across the country. Among the indigenous languages, Luganda is the most widely spoken.

Uganda is rich in wildlife as well. Many beautiful animals call this country home, including giraffes, zebras, elephants, hippos, gorillas, and many more.

Peace Corps Volunteers live and work side by side with community members around the world, building relationships, exchanging cultures and knowledge, and working on a local project adhering to community expressed needs. Learn more by clicking here.
