I traveled 3 hours to San Ramón last weekend, and this upcoming weekend, I’ll be heading to Tarma, just an hour away, to celebrate Semana Santa (Holy Week)!
Lots and lots of miles traveled by car, bus, combi, and more! The longest trip was probably a 12-hour bus ride to Ancash, which was an adventure in itself!
This week, I’ve been using cars for longer trips and moto taxis to get around town.
This past weekend, I traveled 3 hours from my site to my region’s selva (jungle). It’s not quite like the Amazon, as it’s where the mountains meet the jungle, so the temperature isn’t too humid and there aren’t as many animals. I met up with 18 other volunteers, and we swam, ate delicious food, made s'mores, and enjoyed each other's company.
