The weather this week has been perfect! We’re currently transitioning from the rainy season to the dry season, so there’s less and less rain each day. As the skies clear up, however, the temperatures are starting to drop - it’s getting drier and colder.
This week, I’ve seen street dogs wandering through town, birds perched along the phone lines, and spiders creeping indoors, trying to escape the cold. It’s a small glimpse into how various creatures adapt to life here.
The coolest thing I saw in nature this week was a group of vicuñas while I was driving home from a weekend trip. Vicuñas, Peru’s national animal, roam freely through the mountains. They’re part of the same animal family as alpacas and llamas—and they're known for having incredibly soft and valuable wool!
