How far did I travel this week?:

From Amman, Jordan to Istanbul, Turkey, the distance is about 735 miles.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

My guess is as good as yours! I'm not sure, but I walked a lot in Turkey.

How did I get around this week?:

Istanbul has a very interesting public transport system because of its natural setting. There are a lot of hills, but there are also a lot of trees, mountains and rivers. For this reason, you can take a different form of public transit every hour! For instance, one day, I took a taxi, bus, tram, subway, cable carfunicular and ferry! It makes it easy to see all of the beautiful sites when there are so many ways to get to different places.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

The Hagia Sophia! It was amazing to see this famous landmark in Istanbul. The Hagia Sophia was originally a church built by the Greek-speaking Byzantine rulers, but then the Ottomans turned it into a mosque. Now, there is a person who makes the daily call to prayer for Islam from one of the minarets next to the mosque. The beautiful sound goes all over the square nearby, and there are benches to sit and eat.
