dollar is equal to about 19 TL, so the price is a little more than 50 cents for water, here. I'd say that was pretty good!
A kahvalti (kah-VAL-teh)! This is Turkish for "traditional Turkish breakfast."
When you get a traditional Turkish breakfast, you get a lot of different plates. First, you get an egg and lots of different breads. Then, you get lots of cheeses and vegetables, as well as some spicy dipping sauces. Last, you get sweet toppings like butter, Nutella and honey.
It is all totally delicious!
I tried to listen to the most popular bands in Turkey! The big one today has two singers called Mert Demir and Mabel Matiz. They came out with a song called "Antidepresan," which is very popular! I liked it when I heard it for the first time. But I do not know what the words mean!
I took a boat tour on the Bosphorous River! It was so cool to see all of the old buildings along the river, and I got to spend time out on the water! It was also really interesting to learn more about the history of Turkey's famous buildings. There are so many that I cannot even count them!
I've been reading articles on Turkish history! In particular, I want to understand why Turkey is involved in Syria. Turkey is part of the war in Syria because it wants to protect its borders, and the situation is really complex. I decided to learn more before I traveled to Istanbul.
