So Much to Offer! The Variety of Environments in Croatia

Introduction:

In this article, I’m excited to share with you the different kinds of environments that are found in Croatia. From its mountains to its long coastline, rolling fields to lush forests, the country has a lot to offer in its relatively small area. It sits between Central Europe, the Balkans and the Mediterranean Sea, which gives it many types of weather, landscapes, plants and animals.

What makes this environment special or different?:

One of the most famous parts of Croatia is its coast along the Adriatic Sea. The coastline is very long and has more than 1,200 islands. The weather there is usually warm and sunny in the summer and mild in the winter. The sea is clear and blue, and the shores are often rocky. Many of the islands are home to special plants and animals that don’t live anywhere else. You can find pine trees, evergreen bushes and herbs like sage and rosemary growing near the sea, giving the air a fresh smell.

When you travel inland, away from the coast, the environment changes a lot. The middle part of Croatia has four seasons--spring, summer, fall and winter. There are wide, flat plains that are good for farming. Large rivers like the Drava, Sava and Danube flow through this area, creating wetlands where many birds stop during their long migrations.
