While I shared some challenges that people face here, they also prepare for those situations. Homes are strengthened for the case of an earthquake. In dryer areas, rainwater is collected in special tanks called cisterns (my family has one!). The water can be used to water gardens in times of drought. A new bridge has been built to connect a part of the peninsula Pelješac with the mainland to simplify travel in that area.
