Dobar dan! Hello! I’m Flora from Brooklyn, New York. I’m 24 years old and will be living in Dubrovnik, Croatia for the next nine months. I loved growing up in Brooklyn as I enjoyed playing music, soccer, and exploring the city’s many museums. I stayed in New York for college and studied film, journalism, and anthropology - the study of people and their cultures. My mom is from Croatia, a small country in Europe, next to Italy. I visit my family there every summer. I love its beautiful nature and coast. I’m grateful to have received the Fulbright grant, which supports researchers living abroad. I chose Croatia to connect with my heritage and learn more about why people are moving to and from here. I will take videos and make a documentary about their stories to share them with the world. I’m excited to learn more about Croatian culture, including its language, art, food, and history, and to share the journey with you all!
