I think I have a lot more appreciation for my home in Florida as well as for Irish life and culture, two very beautiful but very different places and I wouldn’t change a thing about either!
I made a lot of time to explore the arts in my time in Belfast. I’ve been attending events where my friends in creative writing read off their play scripts and poetry, went to a fashion show put on by Queen’s University and made sure to see all the local museums, even in Derry! There is so much to Irish history, and on the artsy side of things, I found lots of similarities to the events I would attend when I was in college in Florida, but of course, from a very different perspective.
While there is so much I love about Belfast, my favorite has been the Irish people. Their culture is very welcoming, and traditions like community music and dance events represent this! I am so proud to be an ambassador (representative) for Irish life through Reach the World and my Fulbright program! I hope you all get the opportunity to travel as much as possible, whether for school or for fun! There is so much to learn from exchanging cultural traditions and experiences, and I cannot recommend it enough! I wish all of you well this summer and in the future!
