Not far at all really. I haven't left Oulu yet so I have just traveled around the city. Mainly between the city center and the campus of the university.
So far on this journey I have not traveled much because I have not been here long. I do plan on going to the far north of Finland, a region called the Laplands. I also want to go to Helsinki, Finland's capital. Later in the year I want to travel more in Europe and go to Spain and France.
Oulu has a really amazing public transport system with many buses coming and going from all over the city. One bus fare is 2 euros and 20 cents with the city bus pass. Oulu is also a very bike friendly city and has lanes specifically designed for bikes that take you through beautiful wooded areas of the city.
This week the most interesting place I visited was the university for my first week of class. It has been really interesting to see how the daily life of an American student is different from the daily life of a Finnish student.
