Hello everyone! I am so excited to be paired with your classroom and for us to get to know each other.
I am originally from Westchester, New York, and then lived in Manhattan from ages 18-24. I have never lived outside of New York until this year. For fun, I love playing basketball with my friends, going on long walks listening to music, and trying new restaurants. When I lived in Manhattan, I never repeated the same restaurant twice because I wanted to keep trying new things! I went to Columbia University and studied biomedical engineering. In college, I learned about how engineering inventions can be used in the human body and to make new cures for diseases and life-altering conditions. I loved this experience, and I always dreamed about living abroad.
I was so excited to learn about the Fulbright program because it allowed me to live in a new country while working on cutting-edge medical research. I applied to the program to work at the Charité Hospital in Berlin and was ecstatic when I was accepted into the program. I moved to Germany in October and have been enjoying exploring different neighborhoods and getting to know the city. I live in a neighborhood called “Mitte” which means “center” because the neighborhood is in the center of Berlin. Where I live is very close to where the Berlin Wall used to stand, dividing the city into East (formerly occupied by the Soviet Union) and West Berlin until the wall fell in 1989.
