From the Andes to the Pacific Ocean

The people call the truck a “guanaco” because the truck spits water just like the camelids. Vicuñas can also run very fast—up to 50 miles per hour!

What can harm this creature or plant? Are we worried about it?:

There was a point in time where humans were killing vicuñas and this animal's population decreased significantly. Before the Spanish came to conquest land in South America, the vicuñas were protected by the Incas. After the fall of the Inca Empire, vicuñas were hunted almost to extinction. There were only 6,000 left! Now, thanks to a lot of conservation efforts, there are almost 350,000 living. Poaching is still a problem, but we do not have to worry about vicuñas going extinct any time soon!
