If you’re like me in this regard, you might add Colombia to your travel-destination bucket list because this country does drinks right! First, the country is well-known for its prominence in the coffee industry, being one of the largest producers and exporters in the world. Colombia exports all its best beans and keeps the worst ones for itself. Even so, though, I love the coffee here! They call coffee tinto (black) because of its dark color, and people drink it all day, every day--before, during and after all meals and even with their snacks and desserts. Usually, I’m a sweet-coffee person who likes lots of cream and sugar, but even the black coffee here is tasty. Second, Colombia's fruit juices are incredible. They have kinds of fruits you’ve probably never heard of like maracuya, mangostino, lulo and more, and they turn almost all of these into juices. When you order a juice here, they ask, “en leche o agua?” (with water or milk) which kind of surprised me at first because when I think of juice, I think of a water-based fruity beverage with sugar, but they also consider fruit juice with milk to be juice. I would be more inclined to call that a smoothie, but regardless of the name, the drinks are delicious!
Well, that’s all I have to share on food for now! I really hope you learned something new and are maybe a little bit hungry. Below are some discussion questions, food for thought, if you will. Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next week!
