It took seven hours during which I was served numerous snacks, breakfast and dinner. Because I wasn't very active on the plane, I did not have a big appetite for breakfast, which was a yummy chicken spinach pastry with tea. For dinner, I was served the best couscous with creamy honey glazed chicken and veggies, accompanied by a pickled pasta salad, a mini ciabatta bread and cake!
I landed at the International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey (how about this one?), where I had about four hours to spare before my flight to Kyrgyzstan. Roaming around the airport I came across the coolest chocolate store, AND A STARBUCKS that was serving not only the coolest looking coffee, but also sandwiches and bagels! As you can tell by my reaction, I was really struggling not to buy a thing or two since I knew I would be served food on the next plane. I wanted to save space for my next meal, which I'm glad I did because it was wait-worhy! The flight attendand asked me if I wanted chicken or fish, since I already had chicken, I chose fish. The meal served was grilled salmon, served with mashed potatoes, grilled veggies, a pickeld rice salad, bread and some vanilla pudding topped with caramel sauce and apple juice. Oh man, it was delicious!
After landing in Kyrzgystan and getting some sleep in, I went out to the BEST coffee shop in the city of Bishkek. I have since become a regular customer, one of the main ones may or may not be due to my potential coffee obsession. I'll let you figure it out throughout the semester. The pastries they have are made fresh in front of you, so you can imagine the smell. Maybe it's the smell that makes me love that shop? Who knows...
