What was it like to fly on China Airlines?

I was really excited to fly with China Airlines because I had never traveled with this airline before. I usually fly Southwest, so this felt like the beginning of a brand-new adventure. At the same time, I also felt a little uneasy because I knew I might be one of the only Black passengers on the flight (I was one of two heading to Taiwan). I wasn’t sure how the Chinese airline staff, flight attendants, or other passengers would treat me.

But as it turned out, I had nothing to worry about. The flight attendants were incredibly kind and attentive. One of them noticed that I didn’t have any tea with my meal and asked if I wanted some. Throughout the flight, they continued to offer me tea, which I really appreciated. Another flight attendant kindly answered a question I had (I forget what I asked). During my flight from Taiwan to Osaka, the crew was just as accommodating, and the Chinese woman sitting next to me was really sweet. We didn’t talk much, but she often smiled at me.

Overall, China Airlines provided excellent customer service.

The only difficult aspect of the trip was the long flight from Ontario, California, to Taipei, Taiwan.
