A Day in the Life: Student in South Belize

We also have a dog named Ledurugumafia who loves to run around the yard.

What chores do you have at home?:

At home, I help by cleaning my room, cleaning around the house and helping my brothers and sisters with their homework. We all go to Punta Gorda Methodist School, so I try to help them with their schoolwork whenever they need it.

What jobs do your parents have?:

Both of my parents are teachers. 

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

School starts at 8:30 in the morning. I go home sometime between 3:00 and 3:30, and sometimes even at 4:00p.m. In the evenings, my father comes to pick me up.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

In the morning, I walk to school. In the evening, my father comes to pick me up, so I don’t go home by myself.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

I eat lunch at school every day. My favorite food is nachos made with chips, cheese, beef and pepper sauce. 

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

At school, I speak Kriol, English and Garifuna. In Garifuna, we say “Buiti Binafi” to say hello.

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Some common names are Howard, Sharmaine, Hannah, Cameron, Damien, Ziva, Mark and Victor.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

In school, I study science, social studies, math, language and health education.
