Hello everyone! My name is David Swenson, and this year I will be teaching English at an elementary school just outside of Ourense, Spain. I am originally from Simsbury, CT, but I now live in Chattanooga, TN with my family. I graduated from Dickinson College this past May with majors in International Studies and Music and a minor in Spanish. While at Dickinson, I studied abroad for both semesters of my junior year. In the fall, I studied in Bologna, Italy for four months. In the spring, I studied in Cuenca, Ecuador for one month, and then Mendoza, Argentina for four and a half months.
I decided to come to Spain this year for a number of reasons. One of my main goals in coming to Spain is to travel even more and get the experience of living for an extended period of time in another country because I love traveling and learning about the world around me. In addition, I want to continue to improve my Spanish and achieve near-native fluency in the language. Furthermore, I want to gain experience teaching and working with kids, which are two things I am passionate about. Finally, I am very interested in Spanish culture and history and want to gain more familiarity with both. I am already a huge fan of Spanish (and specifically Galician) food!
