Auf Wiedersehen from Germany

There are ones that will look totally different from English words, ones that you might be able to guess and words they change for what seems like no reason (the Germans changed the movie name Zootopia to Zoomania for some reason?). Languages are like a puzzle--a puzzle that never ceases to amaze me!

The semester has also just ended for me here in Marburg and everyone has taken the break for the winter holidays and New Years (Christmas is Weihnacht in German and New Years is often called Silvester). I will be staying in Germany for the holidays and returning to my research in early January. The past few months have brought me to the capital of Berlin, the countries of Denmark and Switzerland, and many other German cities. I look forward to hopefully making use of my rail pass, which that lets me use the trains to explore more of this beautiful country, before my time here is done. I will stay here until next July, and then I will see what my next adventure leads me to!

I would like to thank Mrs. Snell and the 6th grade teacher’s team for helping to set this up and all of you for the amazing questions over the past months. It has been a great experience getting to know you all. I hope you have a great rest of your year and learn lots. Auf Wiedersehen!
