He often invites me to spend time with his family, and I even got to visit their farm.
I practice ping pong at the club a few days each week and have met many kids from the community there. Playing sports is a great way to spend time with people without needing to talk too much.
Drinking Coffee:
I love Vietnamese coffee! I drink at least one cup of coffee every day. Because I enjoy coffee so much, I have made friends with other coffee lovers in my community.
I often go out for coffee with other teachers at my school. In Viet Nam, many people take a nap after lunch. Instead of napping, I usually go with other teachers who stay awake to a café near our school. These trips have helped me build strong friendships with my coworkers. They are also a great opportunity for me to practice speaking Vietnamese.
Practicing Vovinam:
I have practiced martial arts for most of my life, so I was excited to learn Vovinam, the traditional martial art of Viet Nam. I joined a class in my community, and we practice several days each week.
Vovinam has been an amazing way for me to make friends while learning something new. Many Vietnamese people are proud of this sport, and I enjoy being part of that tradition. I was even able to perform during the Lunar New Year celebration! My friends from Vovinam have also introduced me to other sports, like pickleball and badminton.
